Keith Haring 1958-1990

Keith Haring was an American artist whose graphic, instantly recognisable visual language emerged from the New York subway in the early 1980s. Born May 4, 1958 in Reading, Pennsylvania, he transformed public spaces with his energetic lines, symbolic figures, and socially charged imagery. His work bridged street culture and fine art, addressing themes of unity, love, inequality and the AIDS crisis.

Haring became a defining voice of his generation, expanding into large-scale murals, gallery exhibitions, and global public art projects. He died on February 16, 1990, leaving a legacy that continues to influence contemporary visual culture.
