Grin Reaper is a bold and darkly humorous work by Banksy, originally created in 2005. The image features the Grim Reaper — traditionally a symbol of death — seated casually on a ticking clock, wielding a scythe, but with a twist: instead of a skeletal face, he wears a large, unsettling grin reminiscent of a Halloween mask or cartoonish smiley face.

This juxtaposition of death and cheerfulness is classic Banksy — a sharp commentary on society’s desensitization to mortality, violence, and fear. The smiling skull becomes a symbol of how danger and doom are often masked or softened in modern culture, possibly referencing media, war, or consumerism.
