Soup Can (Violet, Orange, Mint) is Banksy’s bold reinterpretation of pop art iconography, paying homage to Andy Warhol while injecting a dose of subversive wit. Originally released in 2005 as a limited edition screen print, this work features a stylized tinned soup can, reminiscent of Warhol’s Campbell's series, but rebranded with British supermarket labels — in this case, “Tesco Value.”

The vivid violet, orange, and mint color variations bring a playful twist to the traditionally monotone packaging, elevating the mundane into a sharp social commentary. By choosing an everyday object as the central image, Banksy critiques consumerism, mass production, and brand obsession — central themes in his wider body of work.

While Warhol celebrated mass culture, Banksy satirizes it. His Soup Can is not just an artistic reference but a layered critique of capitalism, British society, and the art market itself. The striking color palette adds both visual appeal and irony, making the piece instantly recognizable and culturally resonant.
