Sale Ends (2006, Unsigned) is one of Banksy’s most poignant and enduring critiques of consumerism. First released through Pictures on Walls in 2006, this screenprint features a crowd of robed, grief-stricken worshippers surrounding a bright red sign that reads “SALE ENDS TODAY.” The figures, depicted in prayer-like poses reminiscent of religious mourning scenes, lend the image a satirical reverence — as if modern society now grieves not for lost loved ones or ideals, but for the end of a shopping discount.
